Sun bum

Sun Bum is a ten-year old personal care lifestyle brand with an in-house creative department that’s a one-stop shop. As a fast growing company recently acquired by SC Johnson, the goal was to remain relevant to the current U.S. audience and expand the brand globally. I led the Creative team in strategic thinking and crafting of brand campaigns, photoshoots, packaging development, social media content, website redesign, partnerships and new product line launches.

Sun Bum’s “Dare Santa” character normally takes on Instagram’s absurd and sometimes harmful dares/suggestions. For the 2021 holiday season, we set out to do something more impactful by bettering the life of one of our followers who asked for help purchasing a car.


Being a lifestyle brand with close ties to the surf & skate communities allows Sun Bum to be nimble, rebellious and make content that meets loyal followers where they’re at. Not just to sell product, but to reinforce the internal motto that Sun Bum “smokes what it sells”.


For Skin Cancer Awareness Month (May), we covered 50 statues in 50 states in banana suits. A banana is covered from end to end in its peel and is Sun Bum’s icon used as a symbol of protection. The campaign got some press love and was able to get the word out on the importance of protecting your skin from the damaging effects of sun exposure.
